Kaila's Trichotillomania Story
This lovely young lady had been fighting her hair pulling compulsions for 18 years until she came to see us. Now she looks and feels great.
Kaila describing the difference her Intralace has made
Hi My name is Kaila. I am 26 years old and I live here in New York.
I have struggled with trichotillomania since I was 8 years old, so just shy of 2 decades now.
With trichotillomania your progress is not linear, it goes up and down. Some years I have been completely bald and some years my hair has come back quite a bit to where I can have it in a pixie cut and have most of my own hair.
The past few years I've really struggled quite a bit. And I was struggling to find ways to cover my scalp and still feel confident. I found Lucinda Ellery on Instagram and it has been totally a dream.
The moment they created the system, it was like a breath of fresh hair. I can finally brush my hair, tie my hair up, swim and shower or snuggle in bed with my cat and not worry about it shifting or moving or coming off.
People will compliment me on my hair and a part of me wants to just say – Really? Well guess what – it's a system lol!
I do things more confidently and I don't worry about my hair any more. I can go about my life and enjoy my life.
It's not an exaggeration – it's life changing!

We are so proud of the strength and honesty that Kaila shared in her story. Living with trichotillomania is not a simple journey. It can be unpredictable, emotional, and deeply personal. For so many women, trichotillomania can bring feelings of isolation and frustration. That's why stories like this mean so much to us.
For women who struggle with TTM, the moment they look in the mirror and see themselves again, reminds us of why we do what we do. Our goal has always been to help women with hair loss rediscover their confidence and enjoy the freedom that comes with not having to think about their hair every minute of the day.
We're so happy to have played a small part in her journey and hope other women with trichotillomania are inspired to know that they are not alone, and that real, lasting solutions do exist. Kaila embodies the strength, resilience, and beauty that define so many of the incredible women we're privileged to work with.
