So what is a hair topper?

A hair topper is designed for women who have hair loss on the top but not extreme loss at the back and sides. It covers the top of the scalp and adds a 'new' parting so there is no more see-through to the scalp. It is ideal for those of us with a widened part or androgenetic alopecia that is focused at the top of the head. Sometimes called half wigs or wiglets, these systems are smaller than full wigs or hair systems. At Lucinda Ellery they are called our Intralace Minima™ System. But they have one big advantage over a traditional topper - you don't take them off.

What a full-size Intralace System is to wigs, the Intralace Minima is to a hair topper. Only ours is an integrated system which still uses your own hair at its core but is still less damaging than many wiglets or toppers which use clips to attach to your own hair.

The Difference Between an Intralace Minima™ and a Traditional Hair Topper

Our Minima hair system is designed much the same as our other patented Intralace Systems®. The core of the minima system is the strand by strand integration of your own hair into the system.

That is key and keeps your Intralace Minima in place.

It is a lengthy process on the first fitting but the result is new hair that is integrated with your own, that is far less damaging than other systems and lets you are be worry free about your hair.

The system will not shift or come off in the wind or rain, and you wear it 24/7 without concern.

With a traditional topper or wiglet they need to be removed when exercising or playing sports, swimming or sleeping. This is not the case with our Minima system. Because it is fully integrated, just like with our full systems, you can play volleyball, pickleball, swim, job, sleep and live your life with the system on without worry. Whatever activities you do, the Intralace stays with you.

You will be able to brush your hair as normal, shower with it and feel the water on your scalp.

Color Matched and Styled to you own hair

Once the system is matched to your hair color and styled however you’d like, we will show you how to wash and care for your new hair.

Since the system is designed to be as gentle on your existing hair as possible, the system will continue to ‘grow’ with your hair.

Because the system grows with you, you will have to come to our salon to have the adjustments made every 6 to 8 weeks (the same as you would for a regular hair cut and color appointment).

But one more advantage – The gray doesn’t show like it used to because the parting stays on top so you can get away without coloring your hair for a much longer period of time.
